I (32F) was returning from canvassing and I wanted to get a walk in – so I went to Walnut Creek Metro park. I park next to the playground, then walk around trying to find a restroom. Between me and the port-a-potties was a black compact hatchback car, and it stopped. The window rolled down and inside came a middle aged black man, bald and wearing a red t-shirt. I was concerned, but I thought he was just going to ask for directions. He asked me if I needed anything, and I said I was trying to find a restroom – thinking he’d know where one was. He claimed to know one.
He asked me to get in his car so he could take me there. My mind went ????!!!! and I said no. He insisted, I said no and turned the other way, at this point creeped the hell out. Lucky, the trail was a hundred feet away. Did pass some other walkers, but was too frazzled to talk to them. Ended up doing a 40 minute hike, thought I was fine, but then realized I was dissociating like if I was in a nightmare. Did calm myself down.
On the way back, I did pass by a man and a woman hiking, asked if they encountered that same man. They didn’t, but were shocked by what I reported. They offered to walk me back, and I accepted. We actually had a nice chat, they seemed like good people. The creep was gone and I got back to my car, and me and the hikers went our separate ways.
Currently at liquor store, did find a restroom I felt safe to use.
