Counter point: Don’t stop in the crosswalk when you’re driving. Pedestrians have the right of way when their light says they can walk.

Even if you’re “turning right.”

I was running with a group today, crossing Academy at South Congress heading south. It was a group of about 6-10 of us. We had the right of way. The walk light was on for us to safely cross the street. A driver was blocking the crosswalk so our group had to either cross in front of him-possibly running into traffic going down hill on south Congress, or behind the car. We offered him feadback and he yelled at us because “I was turning right!!”

PEDESTRIANS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. Your stop is at the solid white line behind the white line behind the crosswalk, not in the crosswalk. I’m sorry you can’t see because of the cars parking along the side of the road. But, especially early in the morning and on Tuesdays on south Congress, there’s a ton of runners. Be alert. We’re in peak winter marathon training season.

Anyway. Carry on with your election anxiety. It’s okay to have it today. Just drive safely.
