Camping tents on fire near Loop 360 in Austin, Texas



No injuries have been reported at this time.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Fire Department (AFD) crews are working to put out a fire at an encampment near Loop 360 in northwest Austin.

AFD said just after 1 p.m. Wednesday that crews were responding to a “large column of black smoke coming from the trees” near the 10000 block of North Capital of Texas Highway, not far from the Gateway shopping center.

Shortly after, AFD said crews on the scene reported several camping tents on fire in the “woods.” Crews are working to extinguish the fire with hand lines. There have been no reports of injuries at this time.

AFD asks that drivers in the area watch out for firefighters in the roadway.
