London Girls Are Going ’90s Kate Moss Blonde For 2025

“Honestly? This kind of dirty blonde looks amazing on everyone, which is why everyone wants it,” Nicole Kahlani, colourist at Hershesons, tells me about the coolest way to wear your hair colour now, and for 2025. Kate Moss, with her slightly grunge, well-partied ’90s locks, is the perfect poster girl for the look, which is best described as a slightly dishevelled shade of blonde. It works especially well in autumn and winter: “Warmer shades and dirty blonde roots are particularly appealing right now, as there’s less sunlight,” Kahlani says.

Luckily, dirty blonde works on all skin tones and conveys a lived-in and effortless “cool girl mood”. Kahlani looks to the ’90s and Noughties for good colour references, but modern examples of the trend include Kendall Jenner’s recent blonde, Gabbriette and Rihanna in the Dior J’Adore campaign.

“The key elements for this look include a level eight base at the roots, whether it’s natural or created through scalp bleaching, which I then drag down through the mid-lengths and ends – and particularly underneath – to create depth and dimension,” Kahlani explains. “I also weave chunks of creamy golden blonde with honey tones through the hair too, like Mossy’s indie sleaze colour in the mid-Noughties.”
