Armani Luminous Silk foundation review: product deep-dive
Infused with skin-loving ingredients such as glycerin for lasting hydration, the Armani Luminous Silk foundation also features the brand’s exclusive “micro-fil” technology to help brighten the complexion, smoothen texture and blur out imperfections.
This silky and lightweight foundation offers a natural-looking glow and lasting, buildable coverage. It goes without saying that thanks to its hydrating properties, it’s a perfect match for combination or dry skin types. But despite its luminous nature, this foundation is also perfectly suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, courtesy of its oil-free formula.
When reviewing any foundation, I always take careful note of the shade range, as unfortunately, there are quite a few brands on the market that are notorious for offering a sparse collection of less than 20 shades. I’m glad to report that this, dear reader, isn’t the case for the Armani Luminous Silk foundation. It comes in a total of 40 shades, catering to a wide range of skin tones and undertones – another reason why it also comes approved by so many celebrity MUAs.
Armani Luminous Silk foundation review: GLAMOUR road test
Out of all makeup products, I’d say I’m the pickiest when it comes to my choice of foundation. In my time as a beauty journalist, I’ve tested dozens of the most coveted formulas around, but very few managed to impress me just as much as the Armani Luminous Silk.
My journey with this particular foundation dates all the way back to 2018, when I decided to wear it for my brother’s wedding – at a time when my knowledge of the beauty industry was that of the average consumer (AKA before I started reviewing beauty products for a living). Having watched countless YouTube videos, it wasn’t long until I noticed that the Armani Luminous Silk is the one re-emerging recommendation that delivered the exact kind of a finish that I wanted for a special occasion. So I listened.
To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Despite having layered it up for fuller coverage, it felt like a weightless veil on the skin and delivered the most natural-looking finish – dewy and glowy in all the right places and blurring around my T-zone. It also paired really well with the rest of my makeup (concealer, bronzer, contour, blush and etc – you know the drill).
Now, as we all know, when it comes to wedding-ready makeup, the devil is in the details, and the real test goes to show through the photographs. Initially, I was anxious that because I chose to go a bit heavier with the coverage, my makeup would appear a bit cake-y on camera. Thankfully, that was far from what I actually saw. In the photos, my makeup ended up looking a lot more natural that I’d anticipated. My skin had that “lit-from-within” glow without appearing too greasy, and above all, I was most impressed that my foundation had lasted me well over 11 hours without budging or sliding off my face – despite the amount of sweat and tears that come with attending your sibling’s wedding.
Armani Luminous Silk foundation review: final verdict
Little did I know that years later, the Armani Luminous Silk foundation would still hold the spot as my favourite formula to date. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a suitable foundation to wear on a special occasion – be it a wedding, a photoshoot or any kind of an event that you know you would be photographed at.
Everything from the packaging to the blurring finish screams luxury, and while it’s definitely more expensive compared to other formulas out there, the quality speaks for itself. Above all, I rate this foundation for its flexibility to work for any look: whether you wanted to sheer it out for a more natural finish or build it up for a “full glam” moment.
