There’s a serene, ceremonial mood to these silhouettes— that convey Comme’s past, that of “like the boys”, which I’m attracted to here. The kaleidoscopic swirl of colors and prints are spellbinding, and this tone of all the collage of chaos being contained in ceremonial forms that at once conjure feudal Jaan and Elizabethan era dressing so gorgeously.
Just wished there were more of the sly wiley-ness of the white boucle-esqu suiting that hints at classic tailoring— but with the demented perspective through a funhouse mirror. And if only these designs had accompanying pants for a more total suiting.
It’s thrilling and inspiring how a label that’s well over 40 years old with its original designer, can so effortlessly show out all the lessers half her age, like J.W. and Virgil— both coming off as so lazy and limited in their design skills and only fuelled by hype.
