Uniqlo is launching a limited-edition collaboration collection of T-shirts, hoodies, caps and toys with the animated TV series SpongeBob SquarePants and enigmatic brand and pop culture artist Cactus Plant Flea Market, available from 13 December.
The collection features Cactus Plant Flea Market’s “instantly recognisable” style, as well as their signature “double vision” motif applied to SpongeBob, Patrick and the rest of the characters from SpongeBob SquarePants.
The limited-edition three-way partnership celebrates classic moments from the TV series that “created a global language among fans”, and the collection is described as “a wearable retrospective” in Cactus Plant Flea Market’s signature hand style and humour to completely reimagine the residents of Bikini Bottom.
SpongeBob SquarePants was created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon in 1999, becoming a cultural phenomenon beloved by generations.
The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, “an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge”, and his undersea friends.
Paramount Consumer Products oversees all licensing and merchandising for Paramount, including SpongeBob SquarePants products.
The new collection will be available in all Uniqlo stores in the UK, as well as on the retailer’s website, with adult T-shirts in four designs priced at £19.90, adult hoodies in three designs at £34.90, kids’ Tees in three designs at £9.90 and kids’ hoodies, also in three designs, at £19.90.
