My mom’s car’s registration expired 11/2023 and didn’t get renewed due to some outstanding maintenance that needed saving up for.
Now that the car (midsize SUV) is fixed, she wants to get the new registration after getting the official vehicle inspection in the next week or so.
We’re confused on what the expiration date and added fees would be if she were to submit documents in 11/2024…
We understand that if she got it re-registered by the end of this month, her new registration would expire at the end of 11/24, so just a month before having to pay for another car registration fee to last through nov 2025.
Since there isn’t a sense of urgency for her to drive the car asap, would it be in her best financial interest to wait until dec 2024 to submit new registration for the car.
I’m also posting here because the changes to car registration rules in Texas are a little unclear to me. Appreciate any assistance with this.
