The style leans heavily into the mouse haircut shape that’s been taking off heading into autumn-winter. The understated chop, which has been a favourite of Taylor Swift throughout her Eras Tour and Dakota Johnson (since forever), features a very lightly layered midi or longer length haircut, paired with a ‘70s fringe. The cosy, layered style gives a shy, girl-next-door energy, alongside a little flirtiness, thanks to the fringe drawing attention to eyes, and it’s the latest animal-inspired chop to take off following the wolf cut, fox cut, butterfly cut and kitty cut. While the cut is more lowkey than bold, shouty styles like mega layered, shaggy cuts, the framework it provides means it works across many different styles (preppy, glam, grungy or classic) and elevates an everyday look.
While Jennifer’s appearance at the AFI festival – her first red carpet since announcing her pregnancy – was a lesson in effortless tailoring (both in the fashion and beauty department), Jennifer Lawrence had a more important reason for being there. Her presence helped shine a light on abortion rights, which Jennifer loudly endorses.
The reason she was at the festival was to attend a screening of “Zurawski V Texas” – a real-life documentary which follows a lawsuit filed by The Centre of Reproductive Rights on behalf of 20 Texas women who were denied abortion care in 2023.
In 2022, Jennifer told Vogue: “Get the government out of my snatch. Okay?” adding “It’s too personal to a female’s existence to watch white men debate over uteruses when they from the bottom of their hearts can’t find a clitoris.”
