What’s new in furniture and homewares: October 2024

Where on earth has October gone?! With overseas guests, school holidays and Charlie’s birthday festival, it was over in a flash! But I’m back, as usual, to share with you the favourite things from my inbox this month!

If you’ve been starting to think about your festive tablescape, check out Linen House’s new dining collection, available from today (30 October). I love the fresh take on gingham check for Christmas Day, but if you prefer something a little more Aussie summer, their pastel resin range is super sweet!

I’m finally in my bar cart era now my boys are old enough to know to leave things alone (glass bottles on wheels, you know?) and this new one, Malena, from Mocka, is super cute and only $129.99.

Now, these aren’t new, but I only just found out about them: plantation shutters in any colour. Say what?! Wynstan’s Basswood Shutters are for homeowners looking to add a unique, custom touch to their interiors. Available in any Pantone colour, they give you endless possibilities to match or contrast with your existing décor. In addition to their colour options, they also come in various shapes, accommodating unique window styles and unconventional spaces. From classic squares to arched and circular windows, these shutters can be customised to fit perfectly, giving your home that bespoke look and feel.

Longtime readers will know I love a stripe, especially on a T-shirt! Now available in three new colours (perfect timing for Christmas gifts!) including this stripy number, the Le Sac has gained cult-like status among stylists and gardeners alike since launching one year ago.

Haven, available at Woolworths, introduce their new Spring/Summer 2024 Collection. This year’s collection continues to redefine the art of enhancing living spaces, offering an aromatic journey that fills your home with elegance and warmth. With the new scents inspired by the vibrancy of the season, Haven’s candles bring the essence of spring and summer into your home.

They’ve also collaborated with aboriginal artist Bobbi Lockyer on a new candle (below), also available at Woolworths. Inspired by her Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul, and Yawuru heritage, Bobbi’s new collection celebrates Australia’s landscapes and honours Indigenous storytelling through vibrant, meaningful pieces.

King Living revealed a newly launched Kids Collection this month, designed to bring the brand’s signature quality and versatility to children’s spaces. Expanding the family-friendly offerings, the collection introduces two standout pieces: the 1977 Mini Sofa and the Delta Coast Bed. The 1977 Mini, a playful reimagining of the iconic King Living 1977 Sofa, is designed to bring timeless style and comfort to bedrooms or playrooms. This children’s sized version mirrors the modularity of the original, allowing for easy reconfiguration of seating to suit various room layouts or changing play areas.

The Orla Kiely rug collection is new from Unitex. Often perceived as retro, Orla Kiely has grown to become a well renowned name in the textiles industry. Drawing, refining and simplifying organic elements into perfect motifs that are then repeated to build rhythmic patterns for everyday applications, Orla Kiely has established a unique and equally as beautiful brand. Available from retailers including Temple & WebsterMyer and Iconic Rugs.

There are a few new ranges of Portugese-made Borralheira indoor pots at Bunnings. Crafted from superior quality ceramic material with a high quality glaze finish, each piece is handmade, featuring non-porous, water-tight construction, making them suitable for indoor use.

I’ll be back this time next month with more!
