There were the similar poker-straight lengths and razor-sharp ends. Even the centre parting was spot on. And there is the similar timing of both stars’ autumnal, short hair transformations to consider.
Victoria herself recently opted to lop off her waist-length hair to her collarbone, reviving a look from her ’90s style archives. Then on 25th September, ahead of her show at Paris Fashion Week, she debuted a longer, choppier lob that ushered in a new hair trend: the ‘posh’ lob.

Given the premiere was packed with plenty of Disney Channel stars from the Noughties – including Danielle Fishel and Monique Coleman – Selena’s hairstyle was perhaps only fitting.
It’s fair to say that, in the past few weeks, Selena Gomez’s ever-changing roster of hairstyles has gained as many column inches as her manicures (we’re looking at you vanilla chai nails).
On 20 October, at the BAFTA screening of her new film Emilia Pérez in LA, she debuted a freshly-chopped, bouncy bob. Later that day, she rocked up at the Academy Museum Gala 2024 having styled her hair into an exaggerated flick that managed to look simultaneously retro and futuristic thanks to the ’60s shape and high-sheen lacquered finish, respectively.
Selena Gomez is fast becoming our favourite poster girl for the bob, proving it has versatility in spades with every outing.
