What the 2024 Election Looks Like in 7 Battleground States

Millions of Americans endured endlessly long lines, and some even the threat of violence. Nevertheless, voters proved that the American experiment was still alive and well. The question, of course, was whether its citizens wanted it to keep it going.

On Election Day, Vanity Fair sent photographers to seven battleground states to witness the state of a nation hanging in the balance. Cassidy Arizia, Rita Harper, Alfield Reeves, Mikayla Whitmore, Kate Medley, Jalen Wright and Bade Turgut captured vivid images of voters flocking to the polls in Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Nevada, where voters chose between two starkly different candidates: Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Pennsylvania

“While photographing the political scene in Pennsylvania, I encountered a diverse group of passionate individuals, all deeply committed to their candidates. Regardless of the party they supported, everyone seemed to share this confident sense that their candidate was definitely going to win.”
