This morning I was driving home & to get to my complex i have to make a left turn. Sometimes this light is green, sometimes it’s just a blinking yellow light. I don’t particularly like making this turn when it’s yellow because it’s at the bottom of a hill & you can’t really see if anyone is coming until it’s “too late” & it’s a super busy road that people speed on all the time. Now, i’m not a particularly anxious driver but I try to be super cautious because you never know what someone else is going to do on the road so I try to lean towards “everyone drives like an AH” so i don’t end up in risky/dangerous situations. There was one guy behind me that kept honking at me to make the turn when he felt like it was clear but I didn’t feel safe to make the turn because again… you never know who is just gonna decide to gun it down the hill & now I get T-boned. I also want to make it abundantly clear that I was fully paying attention & looking to see if there was an opportunity to turn that I felt comfortable with but I just didn’t see one. I usually just wait for the signal to turn green so I know I can safely make the turn without any risk but this guy really pissed me off because I have no obligation to turn on a blinking yellow light (just like no one has an obligation to make a right turn on a red light if they don’t want to) & I ended up waiting until the last second of the lights being yellow (not blinking) to make the turn & he got stuck at the red light. In short, if you’re that guy that was behind me, or if you’re like him… this is your gentle reminder that not everyone wants to take unnecessary risks on the road to get to their destination 30 seconds faster. Some patience on the road will do everyone some good!!! <3
