“Minimal But Extra” – A Modern, Monochrome Wedding in Santorini

Chic decor. Contemporary style. Completely breathtaking views. Kassie + Thomas’s destination wedding in Santorini, Greece was nonstop monochrome magic.

The UK-based couple knew they wanted their celebration to be a beautiful balance that felt “minimal but extra.” In fact, juxtapositions like that one became a key part the way the day’s b+w aesthetic would take shape at El Viento Santorini.

“We loved the idea of the very old venue with the modern decor to give it a juxtaposition that we felt was very us as a couple,” Kassie + Thomas say. “We are the complete opposites of each other but somehow it works perfectly.“

With the help of planners + event designers from Charlotte May Weddings, Kassie + Thomas’s Greek destination wedding dreams came to life. And what could be sweeter than saying “I do” surrounded by stunning views of the Caldera of Santorini?

Let’s dive into the pics! Moments To Keep Photography captured it all so beautifully.

How sophisticated does Thomas look in this white jacket tux!

The couple asked guests to rock white dresses and black tuxes, and the over-all effect on the look of the day was totally stunning.

“We first met in a bar where I approached Tom to tell him that I thought he looked like a well known English soap star,” Kassie remembers. “The comparison I don’t think went down too well at the time as he hated the programme, but it got us talking!”

How chic are Kassie’s low bun bridal hairstyle by Bella Damigou and bridal makeup look by Renia Bledaki!

Those silver pointed toe Prada heels! What a great way to add some metallic flair to the day’s b+w aesthetic.

We know you’re dying to know all about this absolutely iconic bridal look, so here’s the full scoop:

“WHAT A JOURNEY!” Kassie begins. “‘The dress’ wasn’t my original dress. I had ordered a dress from Australia, and when it came it was nothing I imagined it would be. I was heartbroken. The dress has been on my Pinterest board before I’d even met Tom. But when I tried it on I didn’t get ‘that feeling,’ and it looked as though it had been worn for 3 other weddings previously! Panic really set in with less than six months to go to the wedding but, as the saying goes, everything happens for a reason. A few weeks later after a million bridal shop visits I was served an Instagram advertisement for the designer Jan Si Studios. Our worlds aligned.”

“I’m addicted to aesthetics, and her studio looked just like my living room with the Crittall windows and white wash walls. Her very modern bridal aesthetics were a perfect match to mine. From the first Zoom call I had with Signita I knew we were about to embark on such a special journey of designing my wedding dress from scratch. I sent ideas over of dresses I loved (none of them wedding dresses)—all very couture or with an editorial feel to them—and Signita got to work. The process was seamless, even though I’m sure there were many sleepless nights on her end due to the very short time scale, and the dress after 3 fittings came to life.”

“I feel as though we have given my dress her own persona. My dress was nothing I ever imagined but everything I had dreamed she would be, if that is possible. I’ll be forever grateful to Signita for creating such a special piece, we still message weekly about how beautiful she is!”

The Reception

This custom canvas signage by Illuminography created such a romantic, lyrical focal point for the outdoor celebration. Very into the minimalistic b+w vibe.
