Neale Whitaker now has his name on chopping boards and more!

Renowned interior design expert, TV personality, magazine founder and editor Neale Whitaker, has just dropped his debut serveware collection. In collaboration with NSW-based retailer, Gro Urban Oasis, Neale’s collection is a first for the tastemaker, taking ownership of a space he knows intimately: food.

Neale has had a hand in almost every iconic lifestyle publication across Australia. With his rich history in publishing, as the founding editor of Food Illustrated back in the UK and Australia’s own Delicious Magazine, an almost decade-long tenure as editor-in-chief of Belle Magazine, the author of The Accidental Foodie — not to mention, marrying a chef — his step into the kitchen and dining  space seems almost overdue.

“Creating something in the top of table space brings everything I’ve learnt about taste, style and the necessary elements of the sensory human experience to the forefront,” Neale says. “It celebrates everything I believe in, when it comes to good living.”

Utilising an amalgamation of his true passion points, from starting out as a junior in fashion PR back in 1980s London, to falling into (and in love with) food publishing, to the interior design space — Neale stepped into a natural partnership with Gro Urban Oasis.

“Gro Urban Oasis is known for their dedication to ethically-sourced homewares, made from beautiful, quality materials, at great prices. We share the view that ethical, simple, good design; shouldn’t be inaccessible.

“They’re experts at bringing the outdoors in, creating spaces made for entertaining and reveling in the natural elements. To me, they felt like the natural choice.”

Spanning across the dinnerware, serveware, drinkware, cutlery, table linen, kitchen napery, baskets and outdoor candle categories — Neale’s capsule collection is no small feat.

“I feel passionately about affordable design. I spent years editing magazines filled with products I couldn’t afford on their pages. I want to design pieces you’ll be using in years to come, that you won’t tire of, that prove to be timeless while also working to be the perfect canvas for food presentation.”

The collaboration collection will be split into two different ranges: Culinary and Everyday. While the Culinary range will see a focus on handmade, bespoke pieces, handmade with Australian-sourced materials, featuring high-fired stoneware at a higher pricepoint, the Everyday range will be in keeping with ethical processes and stylish aesthetic, but will sit at a more affordable pricepoint.

Neale holds the firm belief that good design is good design, and that creating a space that enriches your lifestyle is simple at its core. This capsule collection embodies designs with home chefs and entertainers in mind, bringing his ethos into our own lives.

You can shop the collection online and in-store.
