So first I looked around my area for businesses who offer 3D body scans as a service. I found a plastic surgery office who offered them for consultation purposes, and a gym that offered them for body composition and weight loss purposes. This is a good resource for finding businesses that offer scans from the same kind of machine that I had my scan done on. Even if this is a bit of an odd use case, business owners are generally very accommodating even if your purposes for the scan are unconventional. I paid $75 for my scan from a Fit3D machine at a fitness business and the business owner let me retake the scan 2 additional times because the first one didn’t come out quite right.
This is how the raw scan turned out, I was able to download the file as an .OBJ and bring it into Blender to smooth out any rough areas and fix any issues with the mesh. I did have to scale down the model by a factor of .10, but that was easy enough to do in Fusion360.
More updates to come! I’m currently 3D printing this model to use as a body form for airbrushing my Cortana body suit.
