No trousers, no problem. Just ask Demi Lovato, who took the ever-popular “no trousers” trend to the next level in a corset-and-lace look.
The singer shared an Instagram photo dump of their adventures leading up to November, including an outfit pic we can’t stop thinking about. In the pic, Lovato poses with their fiancé Jordan Lutes, wearing a sleek black corset top with a pair of lace no trousers — but these aren’t your ordinary black lace trousers.
Instead of a lace overlay detail, Lovato’s trousers look more like tights than traditional trousers, but they’re not tights, either. (You’ve really gotta stare at them for a bit to get the full picture.) The fabric isn’t sheer, but it isn’t opaque either; they pull on with no buttons or zips, and they appear to stretch all the way over Lovato’s foot and shoe, though that could also be a trick of the light. Either way, the trousers give the illusion of “pantslessness” without actually going sans trousers, which is pretty genius.

Demi Lovato styled the lace look with a low bun and some glamorously goth black lipstick, plus a wine-red manicure to match. Elsewhere in the carousel, they wore another pantless look, this time pairing an oversized black Balenciaga logo tee with super-sheer black tights and lace-up boots.
Stars have embraced the trouserless trend in so many different ways over the past year. Both Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber are big fans, with Jenner often skipping trousers in favour of undie-length shorts and Bieber trying a sportier spin with a long coat. Actor Kristen Stewart is another fan and took the no-trousers trend to the red carpet in her thigh-high bodysuit and tights ensemble in spring 2024. Looks like we’ve figured out our New Year’s Eve outfit!
