Wide-leg trousers in winter are a casual and comfortable outfit formula, but what shoes do you wear with the silhouette that’s been super on trend this year through every single season?
During the warm months we love to wear our wide-leg trousers with trainers or ballet flats — however, these styles aren’t always suitable for cold winter days. And in snowy or icy conditions, they certainly won’t cut it.
But that doesn’t mean that all our cute trousers have to go into hibernation along with our summer dresses. Here are three types of shoes that go perfectly with wide-leg trousers in winter.
1. Chunky boots
If you want to emphasise the casual side of wide-leg trousers, especially wide-leg jeans, in your look, you should combine your trousers with chunky winter boots.
Not only do they keep your feet warmer than almost any other shoe model, they also look incomparably cool, especially when the pants rest loosely on them.
You can complete the look with a knitted sweater and an oversized coat — preferably in dark shades in winter.
2. Tapered boots
Pairing a boot with a heel with wide-leg trousers is a casual, but elegant look. The difference between these and chunkier styles is that the heel makes the shoe look classy and visually elongates the leg.
These Madewell boots in a deep red with a kitten heel are an eye-catcher, while black or brown boots in plain smooth leather are versatile and classic.

3. Loafers
