The Pop Girlies Dominated the 2025 Grammy Nominations

On November 8, the Recording Academy announced the full list of nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards—and women dominated the top categories.

When it comes to record of the year and album of the year, only four of 16 slots went to men or male-led groups (well, five if you include Post Malone for his feature on Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight”). The rest went to women, mainly pop girlies. It was a huge year for Sabrina Carpenter, who secured six nominations, including a spot in the best new artist race alongside her ROTY and AOTY nods. Meanwhile Chappell Roan picked up the same number as Carpenter thanks to The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and this summer’s hit single “Good Luck, Babe!”

Rightfully, Beyoncé picked up the most nominations with a total of 11 nods for Cowboy Carter, including ROTY, AOTY, SOTY, best pop solo performance, best country album, and best country song, to name a few. This bumps her total Grammys nominations up to 99, making her the most nominated artist in Grammys history.

Billie Eilish and Charli XCX each earned seven nominations honoring their hit albums Hit Me Hard and Soft and Brat, respectively, while Taylor Swift earned six nominations for The Tortured Poets Department.

The 67th annual Grammy Awards will air on February 2 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
